The Hymen. Symbol of virginity, chastity, and a patriarchal symbol of honor… We have been brought up to believe that our hymens are a sign of our and our family’s honor, that we need to preserve it at all costs (even if that means hymen reconstructive surgery).
As queer women and trans people, how do you feel about your hymen? Would you care to preserve it, and why (or why not)?
